HERD NOTES: The Thoman Family have farmed since 1962 starting with Marv & Gloria and then with Guy & Wendi, a second generation herd. A very nice selection of very well uddered cattle with plenty of frame and good feet & legs. All home raised cattle carrying good flesh. Select Sire AI breeding past 15 years. Cows bred to bulls such as Millionaire, Nathan, Must-Red, Deceiver & Sum Daddy. Most lst calf heifers are bred to a Voegli calf ease Brown Swiss Bull. The SCC has been as low as 90,000 with an average of 215,000 last two years. The Thoman’s are shipping a 80 lb. Average with 98 lbs. At peak with many cows giving over 100 lbs. 3.98 BF & 3.41 Protein. 92-cows in lst, 60-cows in 2nd & 57- cows in 3rd lactations. Cows are being milked in a parlor but are use to free stalls & head locks so should adapt to stanchions well. Feeding includes TMR, haylage, corn silage & hi-moisture corn. Dry cows are also being pastured. Cattle are on a bi-monthly herd health check with PMJ Vet Service. They are up to date with vaccination program. Hoof trimming maintenance twice a month.
