HERD NOTES: The Blunts fine herd is presently shipping a 85 lb. average to the milk plant. They peaked in the 90’s through the summer months. This equates out to approximately 27,000 RHA with twice a day milking. Mostly lst & 2nd lactation cows with average age of 3.75 years. The SCC is 159,000 now but usually runs 100-120,000 and has been as low as 80,000. The Butter fat is 3.98. The Blunts have received annual SCC quality awards every year. All AI breeding with Select Sires for past 38 years using bulls such as Pepper, Zamboni, Dragon Heart, Belair, Rager Red, Super Sire. Most bulls used ranged from $35.00-50.00. Cows are being milked in a parlor and are adapted to free stalls & head locks. The herd is on health program with Monroe Vet Service twice a month and foot trim work monthly. Also up to date on vaccination program. Excellent herd health. A quality herd with solid framed cows and great genetics. Cattle that should immediately adapt and help improve your herd.
