HERD NOTES:  The Whitcomb Family have been dairy farming for 37 years starting with Holsteins and the past 25 years have transitioned to Registered Jerseys concentrating on AI breeding and developing their herd. A few sires used is Joel, Blizzard, Tequila, Valentine, Casino, Chrome & Pine. The Whitcomb’s are presently shipping a 62 lb. average with individual cows peaking from 100 to 130 lbs of milk with 4.82F & 3.56P.   The fat is usually over 5. Prior to heifers freshening the RHA was 19,000, 1027F-676P. Individual records up to 25,000.
The SCC is at 88,000 and has been as low as 50,000.  Cows are being milked in a tie stall barn with comfort mats.  They are being fed baleage, corn silage, dry hay & TMR. One third of this herd is in their first lactation. Individual SCC will be posted on sale day. This herd is on monthly herd health check & will be pregnancy checked with Argyle Vet.  They are vaccinated annually with Bova Shield Gold TP 5L5 HB and vaccinated after confirmed pregnant with Vira Shield. Cattle are all registered. Buyers to pay for transfer fee. Cows have been classified with 22-Excellent & 45-Very good.  Sellers will accommodate overnight stay.  Trucking available by semi or gooseneck.  Call ahead to make arrangements.  Mark your calendar for a rare opportunity to purchase an all Registered Jersey herd.  These Jersey ladies are the hard to find kind consisting of large framed cattle carrying excellent flesh and bred for production.   If these are the kind of cattle you are looking for you will not want to miss this auction.
