40-HEAD of HIGH GRADE DAIRY COWS
  • 11-Cows Fresh with last 90 days
  • 5-Dry Cows
  • 6-Cows bred 5-7 mos
  • 7-Cows bred 3-4 mos
  • 6-Cows Short bred with AI breeding dates,  balance in all stages of lactation
NOTE:  In this herd there are 16-Jerseys; 12-Jersey Holstein Cross; 6-Holsteins; 2-Shorthorns; 1-Swiss & 3-Crossbred.  17-Cows are in their lst and 2nd lactation. Cows are dry treated with Spectramast DC.  Endovac Dairy & Scour Guard 4KC are administrated at time of dry off.
 
4.97 Fat & 3.71 Protein.  This is the most recent and very consistent test with no TMR or additional protein top dressing fed to cows.  The SCC usually runs approximately 200,000.
 
Individual SCC will be posted day of auction if time allows it. Cows are being milked in a stanchion barn twice daily.  Feed consists of high moisture corn, dry hay and corn silage.  Select sire bulls have been utilized in this herd to increase type, stature, production and longevity.  Along with AI breeding a herd bull was used for clean up. The Broges have purchased bulls from the AL Lynns (David Allen) herd for the past 17 years.This dairy herd has not been pushed.  The focus of this herd has been components. Many high producing ladies. Cows are use to loose housing and turned out daily on a large dry lot for exercise.  The Broge Family are proud of the fact that their milk has been chosen and used for local champion cheese.
