HERD NOTES: After 50 plus years of milking cows, Gary has decided to transition to a beef herd. He is offering a very young and classy herd with 22 1st and 2nd calf heifers and 8-cows in their 3rd lactation. This farm has AI bred for over 60 years, dating back to his father. This herd has a lot of room to grow and expand at the next level. The cows are not being pushed at all. They are currently getting dry and wet baled hay, grain, and 2 lbs. of soybean meal. Gary recently ran out of corn silage. He is currently getting a 65 lb. herd average with a 315 PR and 3.8 BF. The SCC currently runs 260,000. Cows are on DHIA test with individual SCC and milk weights to be posted. He has 10 cows giving 70-80 lbs. daily and before he ran out of corn silage, he had several cows peaking at 100 lbs.
